Maran writes in Shulhan Arukh (Orah Hayyin 98:5) about how we should approach HQBH during our Amida:
When praying, one shouldn’t think that he/she deserves whatever was requested since one had the proper concentration while praying, for such an attitude triggers a full investigation into one's merits to see if one is really deserving of what was requested.
Rather, one should think that anything that G-d gives us is in His kindness. One should approach G-d in Tefillah by saying in his/her heart: Who am I, lowly and despised, coming to make requests of the King of Kings Holy Be He?! It's because of His abundant kindness that He does with his creations.
